Another summer has come and gone, but Wynnewood Lanes “WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY OF BOWLERS” IS STILL IN FULL GEAR. If you are one of our Junior Scholarship league bowlers (ages 5 to 20), your coaches are ready, and your fall league is starting on September 7th
, and remember ALL OF OUR JUNIOR BOWLERS RECEIVE SCHOLARSHISP MONEY FOR COLLEGE. A few of our fall leagues have started already, but we still need a couple of bowlers on league teams. Monday night “Men’s Annunciation” at 6:25pm needs bowlers, as well as “Broomall Mixed” at 6:25pm can use a couple or individual bowlers. “Tuesday Night Mixed” also needs 1 or 2 bowlers. “Wednesday Night Mixed” has a couple of spots for men and women at 6:25pm, and Wednesday “Men’s Trips” (Peterson Point) at 9:25pm needs 2 bowlers. Thursday night “Villanova Mixed” needs 2 to 4 bowlers at 6:25 pm, also “Havertown Royals” mens league at 6:25pm needs 2 or 3 bowlers, and “Transfiguration Mens” needs only 2 bowlers at 9:25pm. Friday night “TV Land” (mixed league) needs 4 bowlers at 9:25pm. And our daytime Senior leagues need bowlers. Don’t miss out on the fun, call Trudi at 610-642-7512 TODAY, and get one of the few remaining spots in any of these leagues.
Computers are everywhere today and most of the bowling centers now have computer systems which take care of the scoring for bowlers. Many of the up to date centers, including Wynnewood Lanes, have gone to synthetic bowling lanes. These surfaces give a more consistent scoring ability, unlike the wooden surfaces that some centers still use. Almost all centers have bumper systems that stop bowling balls from going into the gutters and ramps which help our little bowlers and handicap bowlers roll the ball down the lane. I would like to mention the Delaware County Special Olympics- which is very involved in bowling and other sports- will begin their bowling season on September 16th at Center Lanes and various other centers. Check their website for more information.
The “Junior Traveling League” will be starting shortly. The league consists of bowling teams from various centers in the area. Wynnewood Lanes won the Competition this year and has retained the trophy for the summer, and speaking of winning, congratulations to Jeffrey Vansciver for winning his division of the Pro-am 9 pin no tap tournament recently held at Midtown Lanes. Jeffrey is a 106 average bowler at Wynnewood Lanes and he rolled a 637 scratch series for the tournament. Entries for this tournament came from PA, NJ, NY, DE, and MD. I guess some good certified coaching advice from the Wynnewood Lanes coaches. Jake Garcia from Wynnewood’s Junior Program bowled in the National Junior Gold Tournament held in Detroit, and bowled well. Here’s a tip for the upcoming season, “Don’t stay in this winter – JOIN a league TODAY!!”
